Hello all! I am Lori-ann , an Associate Professor Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Philippines specializing in Ceramic Engineering with a focus on sustainable material design. My research has evolved from transforming mining waste into functional filters to leading projects on the additive manufacturing of ceramics.

Currently, I am a Ph.D candidate at American University of Sharjah located in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. My work targets the development of 3D-printed, metal-oxide-doped materials for structural applications, leveraging robocasting to create high-performance materials for extreme environments."

I earned my undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Science in Ceramic Engineering in 2010, and later completed my Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2019 at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in the Philippines.

I gained industrial experience at House Technology Industries Pte. Ltd. (HTI), Ceramics Department, a Japanese manufacturing company in Cavite, Philippines. As a Ceramic Engineer, I was responsible for optimizing glaze and body formulations for the ceramic tiles, adjusting parameters on equipment such as ball mills, spray dryers, and hydraulic presses, and ensuring the precision of glaze color matching based on customer specifications.

The first time I heard YCN was in 2020, when I attended ICACC2020 at Daytona, Beach Florida, where I had the opportunity to meet people behind YCN and how YCN impact students, ceramic researcher or just ceramic enthusiast, globally.

Due to this, I applied to become the representative of Philippines on the YCN committee. I hope I can make meaningful contributions to YCN and elevate the network in my home country. I am grateful and looking forward to meet and work with the other representative of YCN!

Interface Engineering: High-Temperature Interactions Between High-Entropy Ceramics and Metals.

My research explores high-temperature interactions between high-entropy ceramics (HECs) and metals, with a focus on joining strategies for extreme environments. By understanding how metals wet and react with these advanced ceramics, I aim to design reliable interfaces for applications such as composites, coatings, and ceramic joining with functional properties. This work contributes to improving the performance and durability of materials used in demanding industries such as energy, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing.
