YCN Newsletter 19 - Report on the 15th ECerS Conference for Young Scientists in Ceramics by Jelena Vukmirovic
The 15th ECerS Conference for Young Scientists in Ceramics was held on October 11-14, 2023 in Novi Sad, Serbia. This year, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Conference, which began as a national event in 1998 and now brings together scientists from all over the world.
We were happy to host more than 140 guests from 24 countries this October in Novi Sad, which include 20 Invited speakers and 90 presenters. In addition, we hosted a satellite event “Workshop on atomistic calculations in materials science”, thoughtfully designed to introduce fundamental computational methods that are accessible to beginners in this field.
The mission of this conference has always been to connect young people in the field of ceramic materials through the presentation of their research, as well as a rich social program. We had the opportunity to hear the latest research of young scientists in the fields of electroceramics, bioceramics, catalysis, etc., which will lead to the creation of new partnerships.
We also hung out at two exhibitions, of which the one dedicated to Mileva Marić, a scientist, a woman ahead of her time, was particularly interesting.
Our deepest gratitude goes to our sponsors and co-organizers since we would not be able to organize this conference without them. Once again, we would like to thank to the JECS Trust Fund of the European Ceramic Society and Serbian Ministry of science and technological development which once again endorsed the conference financially. At the end, we would like to thank to colleagues from YCN, as well as people from local organizing committee, who participated in the preparation of the Conference.
