YCN Newsletter 30 - Building Bridges: Petar Kotevski Joins the Committee

Dear Young Ceramists Community,

It is my great pleasure to briefly introduce myself and my ideas to you.

My name is Petar Kotevski, a first-year PhD candidate, working on a collaborative project between INSA Lyon and 3DCERAM, under the main supervision of Prof. Jérôme Chevalier.

Before moving to France, I did my Master’s at the University of Padova, Italy, working with Prof. Paolo Colombo. There, I worked on Xolography of multicomponent glass, again, a collaborative project between Prof. Colombo’s team, Xolo and Swarovski. My current research focuses on stereolithography of ceramics, primarily alumina-based systems. In the coming years, my goal is to “crack the code” of large-scale ceramic printing via stereolithography and contribute to making additive manufacturing of ceramics more reliable and industrially scalable.

During my Master’s studies, I was first introduced to the YCN community, and I was immediately impressed by the strong sense of connection among young researchers in the field of ceramics. This community is truly invaluable. It pushes the limits of science by encouraging collaboration, shared enthusiasm and openness. For this reason, I knew that being a part and contributing to this band of great people would bring me great joy.

Now, as a new Committee Member, I feel immensely honoured to actively participate in shaping the future and contribute to making this society even greater than it currently is.

As many of you know, academia and industry go hand in hand. This is exactly where I will focus my efforts. My aim is to strengthen and expand the bridges between industry and academia, for the mutual good of both companies and young researchers. The goal would not be to only build new connections, rather to reinforce and revitalise existing ones. I envision a network where young researchers feel supported by industry, and where companies recognise the tremendous value of emerging scientific talent.

This will be far from a simple task. It will require the engagement of both sides, especially from young researchers like you. Together, we can build a long-standing and dynamic network that benefits us all.

Let us shape the future of ceramics, together!

Yours sincerely,

Petar Kotevski

Turning Waste into Raw Materials for the Ceramic Industry.

Waste materials were once seen as a burden but are increasingly being redefined as valuable resources for ceramic production. Through advances in materials engineering, waste can be used as secondary raw materials in the ceramic industry. This shift enables more circular and resource-efficient ceramic manufacturing systems.

Implementing 3D-Printed Technical Ceramics in Regulated Medical Fields.

Bringing a new manufacturing technology into medicine requires far more than producing an impressive component. In highly regulated fields, innovation must be translated into repeatable processes, documented quality, reliable materials and, ultimately, evidence of clinical value. Lithoz has spent more than a decade building this bridge for Lithography-based Ceramic Manufacturing (LCM).
