YCN Newsletter 31 - Event Overview - Ceramitec 2026 by YCN Committee member Petar Kotevski
YCN’s participation at ceramitec 2026 in Munich from 24th to 26th of March 2026, represented a key step in strengthening ties between young ceramic professionals, academia, and industry. The exhibition provided an international setting where research, innovation and industrial application converge, enabling meaningful engagements. Our main objective was to position YCN as an active interface connecting early-career professionals with industry leaders.
Throughout the event, we engaged with companies ranging from advance ceramics manufacturers, raw material specialists to additive manufacturing experts and research organisations. These discussions allowed us to present YCN’s initiatives. Industry response was highly positive. Many companies showed strong interest in collaborating through various channels. These exchanges underscored the increasing importance of connecting emerging talent with industrial innovation, particularly in rapidly evolving fields. The event also reinforced YCN’s international dimension, with connections established across Europe, Asia, and North America. Several follow-up discussions are already planned, ensuring continued collaboration beyond the exhibition.
Attending ceramitec 2026 was an engaging and insightful experience, offering a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in the ceramics industry. The event brough together a wide range of companies and researchers, creating a vibrant environment for exchange. Interactions with industry representatives provided valuable insight into how research is translated into real-world applications, deepening the understanding of current challenges and future directions.
Networking was a central part of the experience. Conversations with professionals from diverse backgrounds and regions highlighted the global and interdisciplinary nature of the field. Engaging with these industry leaders offered valuable perspectives on career paths and opportunities. The event further emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry.
Overall, ceramitec confirmed YCN’s role as a bridge between generations and sectors. The success of our participation lies not only in the number of interactions, but in the strong foundation built for future partnerships. These relationships with translate into concrete actions, further strengthening YCN’s impact with the global ceramics community.

Interface Engineering: High-Temperature Interactions Between High-Entropy Ceramics and Metals.
My research explores high-temperature interactions between high-entropy ceramics (HECs) and metals, with a focus on joining strategies for extreme environments. By understanding how metals wet and react with these advanced ceramics, I aim to design reliable interfaces for applications such as composites, coatings, and ceramic joining with functional properties. This work contributes to improving the performance and durability of materials used in demanding industries such as energy, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing.
